Revision of Foreign Maid Insurance PA Coverage

With effect from 1 Oct 2017, the Minimum Sum Assured for Personal Accident coverage under Foreign Maid Insurance will be revised from $40,000 to $60,000 based on MOM new requirements.
If you are purchasing a Foreign Maid Insurance policy on our website where the insurance policy is effective before 1 Oct 2017, you can opt for an additional $20,000 Personal Accident cover (on top of the basic $40,000 cover) for the period of insurance by selecting “Yes” under “Additional $20,000 Personal Accident Cover” when you sign up here.

If your Foreign Maid Insurance policy’s Effective Date is on 1 Oct 2017 or later, you must select “Yes” under “Additional $20,000 Personal Accident Cover” at the sign up page to comply with MOM new regulations as failing which the work permit of your foreign domestic worker will not be approved by MOM.

What it covers

Personal accident


We pay up to $40,000 in the event that your maid is involved in an accident leading to her death or permanent disability.

Hospital and surgical expenses


We pay up to $15,000 a year for hospital and surgical expenses. We also cover your maid for emergency overseas hospitalisation[1].

Wages compensation


We pay you your maid’s wages up to $30 for each day that your maid is hospitalised or on hospitalisation leave and you have not had domestic services carried out as a result, subject to a maximum period of 30 days.

Waiver of counter indemnity

With the waiver of counter indemnity[3], the $5,000 bond liability imposed by MOM is limited to only $250 if you did not cause the breach of the bond.

Important Notes


  1. The final claim amount you will receive depends on the relevant pro ration factor applicable for the hospital and surgical expenses being claimed.
  2. The renewal of work permit is done by NTUC Income Employment Agency (licence no. 96C5724).
  3. You can choose to take up the waiver of counter indemnity under Plan 3 or 4 by paying additional premium.
  4. This hospital and surgical expenses benefit limit is inclusive of the annual minimum coverage prescribed by MOM in the amount of $15,000.
  5. These are additional coverage for hospital and surgical expenses above the annual minimum coverage for inpatient care and day surgery prescribed by MOM.
