OUR CONTINUED EFFORTS TOWARDS ZERO WASTE

Wherever you are in your journey towards reducing your waste and carbon footprint, we want Income Eco Run to be that safe space for you to be encouraged and meet other like-minded individuals.

We can all start small. Changes, no matter how small, can make a big difference in the long run! (pun intended)

With 60,000KM clocked collectively in 2024, Income Insurance donated $60K to the Singapore Environment Council (SEC). The funds raised were used to support 'Project Zero-waste for Schools', in partnership with the SEC. Students from Primary and Secondary schools get the opportunity to gain experiential learning on circular economy and conceptualise school-based eco-initiatives to raise awareness and encourage action amongst peers. This initiative also includes a mentorship programme where mentors provide guidance to students on campaign conceptualisation, campaign design and execution of the school-based eco initiatives.

Here’s what went down at Income Eco Run 2024!

General waste generated per pax dropped by 25%.

60% more recyclables were recycled including metal cans, cartons and plastics bottles

Running bibs were 65% smaller than the industry standard, an improvement from lER 2023 which were 35% smaller than the standard.

66.6 kg of banana peels were composted by United World College as an Eco partner.

Close to 60kg of E-Waste collected, consisting of laptops, batteries and electronic devices via ALBA's recycling initiative.

Conscious choice of materials used - plastic-free cups and F&B refreshments, plantable seed paper, e-medals, IER t-shirt made of recycled water bottles.

Here are some ways we continue to push the boundaries on waste management at this year’s Income Eco Run!

Using smaller and Eco run bibs

Every bit counts! We continue to keep our running bibs 65% smaller than standard bibs to cut down on the amount of materials used to produce them. Bibs from the kids dash will be made from plantable seed paper for kids to grow their own vegetables.

Making run t-shirts optional

Run t-shirts may or may not be essential to some of us, thus we’re making it optional! We’d love to see you in our past Income Eco Run t-shirts or simply in any shade of orange!

E-Certificates

We remain digital to reduce the use of materials to produce the certificate of participation. Participants will receive an E-Certificate in recognition of their participation in Income Eco Run 2025. Feel free to share your achievement on social media and tag us at #IncomeEcoRun.

Compostable Plastic-free Cups

We are only using compostable plastic-free cups at the hydration points of this year’s run.

Composting of banana peels

All banana peels collected after the run will be composted by an Eco partner

Collection points for waste materials

There will be a Plastify collection bin for participants to drop off plastic bottle caps for recycling (bottle caps only), as well as an ALBA e-waste collection point to drop off laptops, batteries and electronic devices for recycling.
